Ad Free Photo Sharing

At ZooFooo we believe that simplicity is ideal. To this end we have tried to keep the site as user friendly and free of extraneous links as possible. We are a photo sharing site and we want the focus to be on sharing your photographs. It was with this idea in mind that we made the decision to build a site completely free of advertising!

Many websites design their business model around advertising. By surrounding the useful and interesting content of their site with ads they hope that users will browse away from their page by clicking on ad links which in turn generates revenue for the site. Unfortunately this means that their pages are often cluttered, ugly and hard to navigate. Ultimately it means that those pages are designed to drive users away from the site and away from the photos that they are trying to view or share. Talk about counter productive!

Advertisements and spam are an inherent part of the digital landscape but that doesn't mean that we don't hate them as much as you do. You will never see an advertisement on any ZooFoo page. Likewise we will never send you spam or unwanted solicitations via email.

Optimize Image Display

ZooFoo uses custom sizing algorithms to maximize the display size of images on individual screens. After uploading to ZooFoo multiple sizes of your image are stored together on our server. Depending on the size of your browser window we will send the highest possible resolution and then rescale for maximum clarity. If the images were surrounded by ads and links the images would need to be displayed at a smaller size to let the ads fit onto the same page. Instead we keep the pages ad free so the photo looks as big as possible.

Powerful photographs often need to be isolated to be truly appreciated. Surrounding a beautiful or moving photograph with ads and distractions is tacky and takes away from the artistry and intention of the piece. Removing all unwanted distractions, especially in the form of advertisements, helps keep the focus on the photograph allowing its full impact to be felt.

Not only that but we have kept even the links to other parts of ZooFoo limited. If you view an image on Flickr you will see it displayed on a page with well over 40 different links to items both relevant and completely irrelevant. When you view a photo hosted on ZooFoo you will see only 7 small links.

Faster Access

Another advantage to having no ads is that pages load faster. When you have to load graphically rich advertisements your Internet connection is slowed down by loading worthless data. ZooFoo only loads the image you are looking for. This means that pages load faster so you can see more photos in the same amount of time and never waste bandwidth downloading ads!

Control Your Photos

When you post your photos to a site that uses advertising to generate revenue you give up the right to control what else is displayed next to your image. Photos are intensely personal and important to us, so why would we want to surround them with advertisements for weight loss, car insurance or other random products?

With ZooFoo you can keep your photos pure, clean and ad free! Never worry about inappropriate or offensive ads being displayed next to your pictures. Never fear that your image will actually become a way for us to display advertisements. Your photos are your own and we let you control what people see.

ZooFoo is Loyal to You

Of course the fact that ZooFoo doesn't take in ad revenue means we need to pay the costs of running the site some other way. This is one of the reasons we chose not to offer the site as a free service. However even this allows us to deliver superior quality. Because we don't make our income through ads our loyalty is directed only at one person: you! Users of ZooFoo are the only constituency we have loyalty to and it shows: our site is cleaner, faster and easier to use without having any ads at all!

ZooFoo chose not to have ads on our pages so we could focus on the service we are providing to our customers. We want your photos to look great, be distraction free and load quickly.
